About us

The Hardy Plant Society Wilts and Avon Group is one of over 40 local groups, (roughly equating to counties), which are affiliated to the main organisation, The Hardy Plant Society (click on Links for the Hardy Plant Society website).

The Hardy Plant Society has recently celebrated its 50th anniversary. Formed in 1957, with the aim to help conserve older, rarer and unusual plants, the Society now has over 12,000 members.

The Wilts and Avon Group is open to anyone who has an interest in hardy perennial plants. We are a friendly organisation who organise talks and garden visits for our members. To view our current programme, click on Programme.

Visitors. We welcome visitors to our meetings. We charge £1 for members, and £2 for visitors, with homemade cakes and tea a further £1.

Where. We meet at Marshfield Village Hall (off the A420 Bristol Chippenham road), and Langley Burrell Village Hall (off the A420 one mile north of Chippenham). In addition, to cater for members who live in south Wiltshire, the Salisbury Plain Mini Group meet at Urchfont. Events. We pride ourselves upon the quality of our speakers, and the variety of topics which they cover. With plant sales, raffles, garden visits etc. there is plenty of opportunity to meet other keen gardeners, and to share ideas and information, in a convivial atmosphere.
